Yesterday Was About Freedom. Today It's Back to the Process.
Yesterday was one of those days that reminds you what's really important.
Like many of you, I spent the Fourth of July with family, watching fireworks over the water, listening to my kids laugh, and reflecting on how quickly life moves. This year also marked 250 years of American independence, which gave me another reason to stop and appreciate the freedoms we often take for granted.
As a former history teacher, I couldn't help but think about how history repeats itself—not just in nations, but in financial markets too.
Every market cycle has its own stories.
Its own winners.
Its own lessons.
Today it's back to the charts, and one thought keeps coming back to me.
I think most crypto investors are asking the wrong question.
Almost every week someone asks me, "Kevin, which altcoin do you think is going to explode next?"
I understand why.
We all want to find the next big winner before everyone else.
But after living through another full market cycle, I don't spend much time asking that question anymore.
Instead, I've started asking something much simpler.
Which ecosystems are already proving they're leaders while the rest of the market is still struggling?
That single shift in thinking has completely changed how I research projects and how I'm positioning my own portfolio.
I'm no longer interested in buying something simply because it's down 90%.
I've owned enough of those.
Some eventually recovered.
Many never did.
What I've learned is that price alone tells us very little.
Relative strength tells us much more.
When I open my charts today, I'm looking for projects that continue attracting liquidity, building products, generating real revenue, and maintaining healthier market structure than the average altcoin.
That's why projects like HYPE, Aerodrome, ONDO, and TAO continue showing up on my research list.
That doesn't mean they're guaranteed winners.
Far from it.
Markets don't make guarantees.
But they are showing characteristics that I believe deserve more attention than many of the legacy projects people continue hoping will magically return to their previous highs.
Hope isn't a strategy.
Research is.
One thing I've tried to improve this cycle is separating my conviction in a project's fundamentals from what its chart is actually telling me.
Those aren't always the same thing.
I can absolutely believe a project has a bright future while still believing the chart says to wait.
That distinction has saved me from forcing trades more than once this year.
The other major change has been inside my DeFi portfolio.
Instead of chasing the highest APR I can find, I've become much more interested in correlated liquidity pairs.
That probably sounds less exciting.
Honestly, it is.
But that's also kind of the point.
If I'm already bullish on two assets over the next several years, why wouldn't I try to put those assets to work while I wait?
That's the thinking behind much of what I've been doing with MAXFi.
I'm not trying to beat the market every single week.
I'm trying to build a portfolio that continues working whether prices move quickly or spend months going sideways.
That mindset has helped remove a lot of emotion from my investing.
I still make mistakes.
I'll make more.
But each cycle, I find myself becoming a little less interested in excitement and a little more interested in consistency.
The same philosophy is guiding what I'm building with DADS DeFi Space.
I'm trying to create resources I wish I'd had when I started.
Not content designed to chase the algorithm for a week.
Resources that someone can come back to months—or even years—from now and still learn something useful.
That includes the website, the free course, the YouTube channel, the Telegram community, and the research I continue documenting along the way.
I'm building this in public because I think people learn more from watching a process unfold than from someone pretending to have every answer.
I could be wrong about plenty of things in this market.
In fact, I probably will be.
But I don't need to predict every move to be successful.
I simply need to manage risk, stay patient, and continue following the evidence instead of the crowd.
That's the process I'm committed to.
If you'd like to follow that journey between videos, I share my daily observations, portfolio thoughts, and market updates inside the free DADS DeFi Space Telegram community. If you're still learning DeFi, the free course on DADSDeFiSpace.org is the best place to build a solid foundation before risking capital.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day weekend with the people who matter most.
Now it's back to the charts.
Back to the research.
Back to the process.
Because in both investing and life, the greatest rewards usually belong to those who stay disciplined long after the excitement fades.
